Elecampane root (Inula helenium) comes from a traditional plant used both in historical medicine and in certain ritual practices. Known by various names in old herbals, it is connected to many legends, including the story of Helen of Troy, whose name appears to be remembered in the plant's Latin name. Its distinctive scent explains its use in blends for fumigation and ritual preparations. Used in ritual sachets, incense and spiritual workings, elecampane root traditionally accompanies cleansing and protection of a space. In some traditions, it also features in practices associated with divination and a connection to the forces of nature. Selected and packaged ready for resale for straightforward use in shops or ritual practice.
